Description
In the Lakefront Airport down a short corridor are three vintage brown telephone booths. Each has a double paned glass door that pulls inward. An art deco light fixture hangs from the ceiling. Floors and walls are marble and art deco. This building was damaged when New Orleans flooded during and right after Hurricane Katrina passed over the area. It took a lot of work to restore this magnificent building. A picture of life and time, with an Art Deco touch, as it was in the late 1930s and early 1940s has been preserved here at this small airport. Go see it if you get a chance. Color image available, too.
