This mosaic is found in campos two of Saint Roch Cemetery in New Orleans, LA USA, established by Rev. P.L. Thevis as part of a promise to have his parish spareid of the Yellow Fever Epidemic. In this second part of St. Roch, one can see mosaics similar to this one in the corners of the walls that enclose the cemetery.
I am Kathleen K. Parker, a native of New Orleans. Over the years, I have worked as a contract venue photographer for AOL-Time Warner, a virtual tour/still photographer for VR National and for individual clients, and a magazine photographer for several publications. In addition, I have college degrees in Computer Graphic Design and English. PS Yes, the cemeteries are wonderful!! When I visit other places that bury their dead underground, I feel kinda lost! We are used to above ground tombs and such, but we do have one cemetery in NOLA that is underground. The reason ours are above ground is that our water table is high. Zee history lesson is over! :)) kk
