People bring ice chests, folding chairs, ladders, bead bags, and also buy from vendors on the route. This was taken on a Sunday before Mardi Gras Day itself. Three parades were posted to roll that day. This was on St. Charles Ave.
I am Kathleen K. Parker, a native of New Orleans. Over the years, I have worked as a contract venue photographer for AOL-Time Warner, a virtual tour/still photographer for VR National and for individual clients, and a magazine photographer for several publications. Thanks steve! Yes, it is something people don't ever forget!! I remember Mardi Gras Days back to when I was maybe 8 years old, jumping to teenage years when we rode in parades in decorated big trucks with friends, throwing beads and so forth... It is really fun on either end ..the throwing end or the catching end. We are lucky because we can both catch and shoot photos!! I cannot imagine a parade without beads and stuff!!
