The oldest tree in New Orleans Audubon Park is the Tree of Life - also known as the Etienne de Boré Oak. It was planted around 1740. "Quercus Virginiana, are almost evergreen, shredding their leaves briefly in the spring. They cannot survive freezing temperatures and thus are found only in the South. They are extremely sturdy and can live to be 500 years-of-age. The oldest known tree, Seven Sisters tree, is 1200 years old. The long taproot and spreading canopy of branches and roots help the trees withstand the stress of hurricanes, storms, winds, and floods. The trees grow outwards as well as up and often the branches touch the ground making a majestic canopy." (picturesquephotoviews.com)
I am Kathleen K. Parker, a native of New Orleans. Over the years, I have worked as a contract venue photographer for AOL-Time Warner, a virtual tour/still photographer for VR National and for individual clients, and a magazine photographer for several publications. In addition, I have college degrees in Computer Graphic Design and English. Today I photograph weddings, especially destination weddings here, other events, landscapes, people, portraits, interesting subjects in general, and, of course, my beloved New Orleans. Street photography and French Quarter photography are two of my favorite subjects!! Thank you for visiting my fine art gallery!
