Description
This tomb is unique in Masonic Cemetery in New Orleans, LA. The Masonic Cemetery was founded after the Civil War. in 1865 by The Grand Lodge of the State of LA, Free and Accepted Masons. They actually had two permissions to establish the cemetery--the first while the city was still under occupation and the second three years later. The cemetery is located on City Park Avenue, not far from City Park. In my numerous forays into my city's cemeteries, this checkerboard apron is the first I have seen.

Cemeteries are a neat place to explore. I once tromped around an old cemetery in Savannah where John Muir once slept. KK, great image and history!
