On All Saint's Day a voodoo priest has inserted incense into a holder on Marie Laveau's tomb. Notice the xxx's. Traditionally, one makes this xxx mark with a piece of old broken brick for luck. Some people use other things. In New Orleans All Saint's Day is the day we visit cemeteries to see the resting sites of our loved ones and of famous people who lived here, such as Marie Laveau. This image is also available in black and white. Thanks! kkp
I am Kathleen K. Parker, a native of New Orleans. Over the years, I have worked as a contract venue photographer for AOL-Time Warner, a virtual tour/still photographer for VR National and for individual clients, and a magazine photographer for several publications. In addition, I have college degrees in Computer Graphic Design and English. Today I photograph weddings, especially destination weddings here, other events, landscapes, people, portraits, interesting subjects in general, and, of course, my beloved New Orleans. Street photography and French Quarter photography are two of my favorite subjects!! Thank you for visiting my fine art gallery! Ms. Parker, how appropriate at this time to note that Marie Laveau's tomb has been now painted PINK by some unknown person who broke into the cemetery. Love the original photograph. It will never look like this again. Judie Kopfman, Cheraw, SC

Well, then I had better post ALL my pics of that tomb!! :) kk

As of the weekend of 12-29-2013, someone unknown broke into the Cemetery and painted Marie Laveau, The Voodoo Queen of New Orleans tomb in PINK LATEX PAINT AND COVERED THE MARBLE FACE PLAQUE IN WHITE LATEX PAINT. This obviously had to be done at night since there are no Guards at the Cemetery. Hoards of people rushed out to the Cemetery to see her repainted tomb, some putting their new 'X's' on it for wishes made to her. When the wish has been granted, they are again supposed to go back to Marie's tomb and circle their 'X' placed there or just add 2 more 'X's' and put a circle around them for thanks to her. The poor painting job and use of Latex paint will cost the cemetery a fortune to remove since it is City Owned.
