Description
A tube of red lipstick in an aqua case rests by the grave or tomb of Marie Laveau. It was left here because lipstick is often used to make X marks on particular tombs in St. Louis I Cemetery on Basin Street in New Orleans. This cemetery is the oldest and is in an area adjacent to Treme and the French Quarter. Marie Laveau was the Voodoo Queen of New Orleans. In the background are X marks in white. People also mark in lipstick, brick, chalk, colored pencils, and more.

Outstanding. Photograph color of lipstick dramatically brought out in that haunting surrounding. The Cemetery is a must for all tourists and locals to visit.
Kathleen K Parker replied:
Thanks, Judie, and yes it is a must. People cannot drive in this cemetery as they can in most of the other ones in the city. But they can get around fairly easily. Some shots can be hard to shoot because of the narrow lanes between tombs, however.
