In the many cemeteries of New Orleans one can find wonderful decorative examples of ironwork. This fence is made of both wrought and cast iron. Its design is intricate. An antique patina covers this beautiful work of art.

Thanks, Steve, Beth, John, and JW (Southern Photographers). When I look at it, I see fancy heirloom tennis rackets and owls! LOL Really, this is a wonderful example of the two types of ironwork: cast and wrought. Cast iron is just what you might guess it is- the iron is poured into a cast to create the design. Wrought iron is made from hammering long pieces of iron into shapes, so it is much harder to do. I really do love the old ironwork, too, Beth.
