Description
St. Louis One Cemetery on Basin Street in New Orleans is the oldest above ground cemetery in New Orleans. On All Saints' Day some family members decorate their family tombs in all sorts of ways. This tomb is decorated with swaths of fabric, beads, religious icons, and more. This is the Perault family tomb. Across the narrow walkway Marie Laveau's tomb is slightly visible. In most of the city cemeteries one will usually find flowers and plants at graveside, but here, anything goes. This is my favorite cemetery in the city. Nowadays one can only visit on a tour as the historical site was being vandalized. I love the gauzy black tulle drape!
